What is G/Rated?

G/Rated is Portland’s gateway to green building innovation, offering initial consultation and current information specific to YOUR green building project.

G/Rated is a program of Portland's Office of Sustainable Development. Under the direction of Commissioner-in-charge Dan Saltzman, G/Rated is accelerating the adoption of cost effective green building practices as the standard of development in Portland. Two fundamental goals drive our efforts in Portland:

  • Expand market demand by educating building industry professionals and the public about the benefits of green building.
  • Make green building practices easier to implement by reducing regulatory and financial barriers while developing technical services and resources for building industry professionals.

Construction of a typical single-family home produces four tons of waste debris; green building seeks to minimize this impact on our waste stream.
